ABOUT      EAR.FM

EAR.FM was created in 2001 and began webcasting exclusively via live365.com in September of 2003.  It was created by Paul Cramer, an alternative radio DJ and program director for over 20 years.  He is the author of The Encyclopedia of Modern Rock Artists and has been a contributing writer to many local and national publications.

Most people that listen to today's corporately programmed radio stations understand that they are listening to a limited number of songs over and over, created in a mathematical circle and featuring songs that were tested and overtested for popularity.  And most people are bored to tears with radio because of it!

Regarding alternative rock and pop, internet radio has so far provided a lot of rebroadcasts of signals from corporate stations and unmanned juke boxes playing "best of'" and "greatest hit" discs without any thought to what sounds good together or what was actually a hit at all.  On the other extreme some web stations play ONLY the biggest hits and consequently become very boring, very fast.

This is why EAR.FM was created.  Since the days of garage rock and the first slams of a punk guitar, there have been charts monitoring what was played and when.  We have turned to the archived history of alternative rock and pop and created a station of 20,000 alternative rock hits.  Granted, some may have only made it to number 40 but we had to draw the line somewhere!  Here then is a station comprised of 30 years of punk, garage, gothic, techno, post modern, new wave, emo, new folk, no depression, and every other sub genre of alternative music that you can think of.  Wrapped up in tasty bites and fed to you exclusively via the internet for your musical education and listening pleasure!  And of course we'll be playing lots of new alternative also, but now you will get to hear new music from the great artists of alternative rock as well, we have NOT forgotten them, even though regular radio has.

And now if you please, click on the spinning Edison cylinder and enjoy Earth's Alternative Rock archive..,
