PAUL YOUNG

From London.  The former lead singer for London neo-soulsters The Q-Tips.  A blend of pop and soul, Young's voice transcends being pegged as a new waver.  His biggest hit in the U.S. "Everytime You Go Away" turns out to be a cover of a Hall & Oates song, but his range allows him to even cover Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart"!  Recent years have found Young's fan base dwindle but has freed him of a particular image problem.  He now enjoys himself with a new band of musicians called Los Pacaminos singing and playing a TexMex style of music.  This change in artistic direction was short lived, by 2008 he returned with an album of swing style covers of rock and new wave classics.  1982-present.
