YELLO

From Zurich, Switzerland.  Dieter Meier (vocals) and Boris Blank (keyboards/vocals) form this eccentric and unique electronic dance duo.  Meier is something of an enigma, a multi-talented individual who not only held a spot on the Swiss National Golf Team but also is a well known millionaire and gambler.  He began his career as a performance artist back in the 1970's.  The group originally had a third member (Carlos Peron) for the first few albums.  Their biggest hit "Oh Yeah" had a double life after being a semi-hit as a single, but came back ferociously when used in the movies "The Secret Of My Success" and "Ferris Beuller's Day Off".  The duo were then led into the scoring of music for other films like "Nuns On The Run" and "The Adventures Of Ford Fairlaine".  Blank is the music end of the duo, creating the beats and soundscapes.  Resembling a reincarnation of comedian Ernie Kovacs, Blank can often be spotted screaming with mouth wide open in their videos.  Today, they continue to release infectious music that you can hear on the dance floors of better clubs  throughout the world.  Meier released a solo album in 1997 and makes the random guest appearance.  1980-present.
