YAZ (YAZOO)
From England. Another band that had to sacrifice their name for America due to another band complaining it had the same name. Consisting of vocalist Alison Moyet (aka "Alf") and original Depeche Mode founder Vince Clarke (keyboards). Moyet left the partnership to pursue songs with more depth, resulting in Clarke searching for that magic combination again. He found it in Andy Bell and formed the very similar sounding Erasure, after a brief stint as The Assembly with Feargal Sharkey. Moyet (real name Genevieve Moyet) went on to that successful solo career she had been seeking but never eclipsed the heights she found in Yazoo. In 1990, "Situation" was remixed and re-released successfully as a single. 1982-83.
