WILCO

From Chicago, Illinois. Led by Jeff Tweedy (vocals/guitar) with Leroy Bach (multi-instrumentalist), Glenn Kotche (drums) and John Stirratt (bass). When the group Uncle Tupelo decided to call it a day, leader Tweedy formed Wilco with most of the rest of the band but drummer Ken Coomer left by 2001. The band continues the "no depression" sounds it had built its reputation on with Uncle Tupelo. After some struggles with their label rejecting their best album, the band reclaimed the tapes and released them for free over the internet. When a new deal was secured the album was officially released to even wider acclaim! Former longtime member Jay Bennett who played with the band for seven years (1994-2001) died suddenly in May of 2009 at age 45. 1995-present.
