PAUL WESTERBERG
From Minneapolis, Minnesota. The former leader of The Replacements, one of the most revered and loved alternative bands of the 80's. Unfortunately the public at large didn't turn them into the superstars that similar bands like R.E.M. became. The "mats" splintered and Westerberg's solo career got off to a great start with a two song contribution to the soundtrack of the movie "Singles". Unfortunately that soundtrack was a symbol of the changing of the guard, filled with music from Seattle's hottest grunge bands, Westerberg's earnest American pop seemed out of place. Two more solo albums followed before Westerberg asked to be let go of his record contract. The result was a side project called Grandpa Boy that allowed Paul to get back to the rock sound of his past and rediscover his talents. Now facing the next century, Westerberg seems primed to make his mark as a solo artist. 1993-present.
