PAUL WELLER
From Woking, Surrey, England. The former leader of The Jam and The Style Council, Weller is known far and wide as simply "The Modfather". By embracing the mod scene and reflecting it with his band The Jam, he created one of the most vital sounds in UK punk. When his tastes turned more towards R&B, The Style Council redefined the sound of modern British soul. As a solo act however, Weller's exploration of psychedelic pop has made no impression in the US but a continued respectful showing in the UK. He continues to be a valid and valued musician in the UK music scene, and is often cited as a patriarch of the Britpop movement as well. 1991-present.
