THE WAITRESSES

From New York City via Akron, Ohio.  Led by former Tin Huey guitarist Chris Butler with Patty Donahue (vocals), Tracy Wormworth (bass), Mars Williams (saxophone), Dan Klayman (keyboards) and Billy Ficca (drums).  Patty sings on all the bands recordings but she did leave the group for a time, replaced by Holly Beth Vincent (of Holly & The Italians), then returned to the band before they broke up for good.  Together, this band treaded a strangely funny and twisted path of the new wave road with ironic vocals, crazed sax and more.  Williams later joined the Psychedelic Furs, Butler continues to release solo recordings and has reunited with his old band Tin Huey to play live gigs, Ficca continued on to work with The Washington Squares then returned to his previous band Television, Wormworth ended up on tv as part of Rosie O'Donnell's house band and finally, sadly Patty Donahue died of cancer at age 40, on December 9, 1996.  Butler earned a place in the Guiness Book of World Records with his song "The Devil Glitch", the longest commercially released pop song, clocking in at 68 minutes, 53 seconds!  1979-83.
