SUZANNE VEGA

From New York City. A native New Yorker who worked her way to success through the local folk clubs that gave rise to the great folk stars of the 60's. Her image became a little hipper when two members of Urban Dance Squad remixed her a capella song "Tom's Diner" into a dance hit without her permission. During the late 90's, her songs took on a jazz feel which she has since abandoned. Vega was married for a few years to music producer Mitchell Froom with whom she had a daughter named Ruby. Ruby became the inspiration for the title of Soul Coughing's cd "Ruby Vroom". 1985-present.
