URGE OVERKILL

From Chicago, Illinois.  Led by Nash Kato (Nathan Kutruud)(vocals/guitar) with Nils St. Cyr (guitar) and Blackie Onasis (John Rowen)(drums).  A sound similar to classic 70's metal but with twists.  They derive their name from a song by Parliament! Known for their indulgences, the band could teach Spinal Tap a lesson in acting like rock stars.  Their preening attitude not only alienated them from the Chicago scene that spawned them but from many music industry people as well.  From their Thin Lizzy sound-alike hit "Sister Havana" to their cover of Neil Diamond's "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon", Kato and company always delivered something imaginative.  Unfortunately the group imploded in 1996 and after a long hiatus, Kato eventually released a solo album in 2001.  Original guitarist Eddie "King" Roeser formed Electric Airlines which then became the Kimball-Roeser Effect.  2004 saw the band reunite for a few dates, possibly testing the waters for a full scale reunion.  1986-95.
