UNCLE TUPELO

From Belleville, Illinois.  This modern rock/country outfit was led by Jay Farrar and Jeff Tweedy with Mike Heidorn who formed their partnership while still in their teens.  They were together for more than a decade before breaking apart and gaining more attention in their new band incarnations.  This band helped bring about the new genre of "no depression" later called "Americana", alternative country with roots in the old cow punk movement. 1990-93.
