ULTRAVOX
From England. Part of the new romantic movement, Ultravox came about in 1977 and was originally led by vocalist John Foxx (Dennis Leigh). Foxx left after four albums and the band took a new direction and new heights of popularity when they added new vocalist Midge Ure. Ure (vocals/guitar) led his fellow members, Billy Currie (keyboards), Chris Cross (Chris Allen)(bass) and Warren Cann (drums) through some of the best electropop of the new wave era. Originally called Tiger Lily and formed in 1974, the band weathered a third change when Ure left for a solo career in 1987. Currie gained the rights to the band's name and continued onward with several vocalists (Tony Fennelle & Sam Blue) before finally ending the band in 1996. 1977-87/1992-96.
