ROB THOMAS

From Columbia, South Carolina.  Born on an army base in the former West Germany, Thomas grew up in South Carolina and Florida where he formed his first band Tabitha's Secret.  The band was signed to a recording contract but Thomas quit the group and formed a new band (Matchbox 20) and his star began to rise.  For the last ten years, Rob Thomas has been a rock star, first locally with Tabitha's Secret and then with Matchbox 20 to a worldwide audience.  Testing the solo waters with a song he gave to Carlos Santana, Santana suggested instead that he guest vocal on the song as well.  A smash hit, "Smooth" allowed Thomas to expand his musical vision away from popular rock and into world influences.  His first solo release was a charity Christmas single in 2002, a full solo album bowed in 2005 and was an immediate hit, bringing Thomas to solo star status as well as band front man.  2000-present.
