THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS
From New York City. A duo of John Flansburgh and John Linnell. Their unusual pop sense combined with over-intelligent lyrics are astounding. Since 1985 they have been running a daily "dial-a-song" service where you could call a number and hear a brand new song by the band everyday. The band named themselves after the film of the same name. Flansburgh also has a side band called Mono Puff while Linnell has released solo work as well. Their album "Long Tall Weekend" is one of the first full length albums made for exclusive download in the mp3 music format, available only on the internet and not in stores. In 2001 they could be heard providing the theme songs to 3 television programs including the popular "Malcolm In The Middle" as well as the theme to "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart", a cover version of a Bob Mould song. In an interesting move, they contributed an original album of 37 songs to the prolific McSweeny's Literary Journal, Volume 6 which is sure to become one of the rarer rock albums in history due to its limited availability. 1986-present.
