THE TUBES

From San Francisco, California. This theatrical stage band is led by John "Fee" Waybill (vocals) with Rick Anderson (bass), Mike Cotten (keyboards), Bill Spooner (guitar), Roger Steen (guitar), Vince Welnick (keyboards), Prairie Prince (drums) and Re Styles (vocals). The Tubes built their reputation on a flamboyant stage show which combined dancers, costumes, and sometimes nudity which sealed a reputation as a must see live act. After Waybill left the band for a solo career, the group continued as a non-recording stage band under the name The Inner Tubes. The band reformed in 1996 with Waybill, Anderson, Prince, Steen and new members Gary Cambra (guitar/keyboards), David Medd (keyboards) and Trey Sabatelli (drums). Recent activity by members include Prairie Prince playing drums for the New Cars and the passing of Vince Welnick at age 51 in June of 2006. 1975-85/1996-present.
