From Los Angeles. Led by Maynard James Keenan (vocals) with Adam Jones (guitar), Justin Chancellor (bass) and Danny Carey (drums). Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine first introduced the members to each other! Jones and Morello attended high school together. Carey had previously played with Green Jelly (a.k.a. Green Jello). A heavier industrial metal sound than most of the bands in the genre. Their effect on alternative radio helped usher in the metal that dominated alternative airwaves in the late 90's. 1991-present.
