ANDY SUMMERS

From Lancashire, England.  The amazingly talented guitarist of The Police.  Before The Police, Summers was a member of the Liverpool British Invasion group, Zoot Money's Big Roll Band and scored his first success as a member of that band with the 1963 hit "Big Time Operator".  The end of the decade saw Andy drift in and out of The Soft Machine and Eric Burdon's "New" Animals with a move to Los Angeles.  The early 70's led to a marriage to singer Robin Lane who would later form Robin Lane & The Chartbusters in the late 70's! Following his divorce from Lane, he moved back to England and worked as a sideman for many blues and metal performers.  His acquaintance with Mike Howlett of Gong led him to a project called Strontium 90 which would become The Police.  After the monster success of that band he moved on to successful collaborations with Robert Fripp and a full fledged solo career.  For a short time, Summers became the leader of the house band on the failed "Dennis Miller Show", leaving the show before it crashed and burned shortly after!  His instrumental albums are guitar bliss and his occasional vocal discs are reminiscent of his time in The Police.  He is also an avid photographer, having published a book of his rock photography.  His latest album features a song with Sting on vocals!  1986-present.
