THE STYLE COUNCIL
From London. Led by Paul Weller (vocals/guitar) and Mick Talbot (keyboards). As The Jam drew to a close, Weller led the group into a Motown inspired sound. His yearnings to create a new type of white soul music were explored when he formed this new group with ex-Dexy's Midnight Runners member Talbot. The band was influential and inspired similar acts (The Blow Monkeys, The Truth, others). Weller went solo in 1988 but created a reunion single in 1996. 1983-88/1996.
