From Long Beach, California.  Led by Scott Weiland (vocals) with Robert DeLeo (bass), Dean DeLeo (guitar) and Eric Kretz (drums).  The band was originally called Mighty Joe Young, then STP, and finally Stone Temple Pilots.  Weiland's drug habits have repeatedly interfered with the band's progress and during a spell of time where he was in rehabilitation, the band recorded an album under the name Talk Show without him. Weiland also released a solo disc.  Both projects were met with lukewarm reception by the public prompting a new tolerance from all parties.  The band again came together for recording and touring albeit with Weiland's drug problems still causing difficulties.  The band finally dissolved from all the inner strife.  Weiland teamed up with former Guns'N'Roses members to form Velvet Revolver while the DeLeo Brothers formed a band of the same name.  After Weiland lwft Velvet Revolver, he reconciled with STP and the band releaseds a new album in 2010.  1992-2003/2010-present..
