GWEN STEFANI
From Fullerton, California. Recruited into her brother's band while still in school, Gwen Stefani became the lead singer of No Doubt after it's original singer committed suicide. A dowdy brunette with a great taste for 80's new wave and ska, Gwen's musical tastes were shaped by her band as much as she shaped it herself. Somewhere between the first and second albums, Gwen became a svelte, athletic blonde which led to some notice by M-TV for the band's video of "Just A Girl". From there the band took off and Gwen's face and figure became known worldwide. Gwen tested the solo waters by appearing as a guest vocalist for hit recordings by Moby and rapper Eve before deciding on trying solo work. As a solo artist, Gwen has been clearly autobiographical in her lyrics and respectful of all the 80's pop styles she loved so much as a girl. Expanding into clothing design and acting, her career continues to grow with each passing year. A daring style and fashion icon, Gwen learned the power of altering her image from the standard that Madonna set long ago and will likely keep that savvy approach as her career progresses into the future. Stefani is married to British rock singer Gavin Rossdale. 2004-present.
