From Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Chris Stamey (vocals/guitar) has cemented his place in alternative rock history as the leader of not one but two legendary groups. Starting out with Will Rigby and Mitch Easter as The Sneakers, he helped to create the Chapel Hill music scene. Moving to New York with Rigby led to his association with Peter Holsapple and the formation of The dB's. His pop guitar sound needs to be heard to be fully appreciated and like his contemporaries (Jules Shear, Alex Chilton) tends to be overlooked. His biggest hit to date is 1986's "Cara Lee". 1983-present.
