SR-71
From Baltimore, Maryland. Led by Mitch Allan (vocals/guitar) with Pat DeMent (guitar), Mike Ruocco (bass) and John Allen (drums). They named themselves after a type of jet fighter. After a few successful albums, they were dropped from RCA in the typical corporate shake-up that results in fewer employees and even fewer bands. As an independent act, they released their third album in Japan. A song on this album drew the attention of a friend in another band who requested permission to record their own version of it. SR-71 agreed to lend out their song and much to their surprise and profit, Bowling For Soup's version of "1985" become a monster hit! 2000-present.
