SPLIT ENZ
From Aukland, New Zealand. Led by Tim Finn (vocals) with brother Neil Finn (vocals/guitar), Nigel Griggs (bass), Eddie Raynor (keyboards), Noel Crombie (percussion), Rob Gillies (saxophone) and Paul Hester (drums). This group predates the new wave movement but ran parallel to it in musical ideas. They were eventually considered to be new wave when they found worldwide success. Tim left the band to pursue a solo career before the group folded. Neil took Hester with him and formed Crowded House. Original Enz guitarist Phil Judd had a hit with his own group The Swingers called "Counting The Beat" in 1981, before forming Schnell-Fenster. The Finn Brothers reunited in a later version of Crowded House and also for a disc of their own under the name Finn. Split Enz have sometimes reunited for performances, one of them captured on the album "Anniversary". In March 2005, Hester passed away near his Los Angeles home while walking his dogs at age 46. 1973-85.
