SON VOLT
From Minneapolis, Minnesota. Led by Jay Farrar (vocals/guitar) with Jim Boquist (bass), Dave Boquist (guitar) and Mike Heidorn (drums). Farrar was the former co-leader of Uncle Tupelo and expands on the "no depression" sound of modern country influenced rock with this band. Taking a break from the band, which began to fade in Wilco's shadow, Farrar released a solo disc "Sebastopol" in 2001 and then concentrated on his solo career with many independent releases. Reconvening the band for 2007's "The Search" yielded the indy hit "The Picture". 1995-98/2005-present.
