SIMPLE MINDS
From Glasgow, Scotland. Led by Jim Kerr (vocals) with Charlie Burchill (guitar/keyboards), Mark Kerr (drums) and Eddy Duffy (bass). Simple Minds began as Johnny & The Self Abusers which released a single on the indy Chiswick label before changing names and style. A long lived band that seemed to fade away but has relied on a strong fan base to regenerate interest in recent years. The band have produced twenty Top 20 hits in the UK and have sold over 35 million records. Kerr, an enigmatic sort, ranted for years how much he hated their breakthrough hit ("Don't You Forget About Me") because they didn't write it! Despite this, it was the hit they needed to get worldwide attention and find success. Kerr was a busy boy in the romance department as well for a while, with marriages and divorces to both Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders and actress/singer Patsy Kensit! 1977-present.
