SIGUE SIGUE SPUTNIK
From London. Led by Tony James (bass) with Neal X (guitar), Martin Degville (vocals), Ray Mayhew (drums) and Chris Kavanagh (drums). James took his punk lessons well, as a former member of Generation X he knew that half the punk mystique came from image. He outfitted his new band like they were from another planet and with McLarenesque flair, began a hype machine as ambitious as the one used on The Sex Pistols. The first album even included commercials between songs! The band split when the hype didn't work but James began the project again in 1995. He calls it Sputnik - The Next Generation! Christopher Novak became the new vocalist but things soured after one album prompting Degville's return to the band! 1986/1997-present.
