THE SIDEWINDERS

THE SAND RUBIES

The Sand Rubies

From Tucson, Arizona.  Led by David Slutes (vocals) and Rich Hopkins (guitar) with Mark Perrodin (bass) and Bruce Halper (drums).  The band changed their name in 1991 to The Sand Rubies after a legal dispute with a North Carolina band called Sidewinder.  As The Sand Rubies they've made several albums of vital rock but haven't garnered the attention they did under the previous band name.  After breaking up, the band pursued their own projects and reunited five years later, only to break up again in 1999.  Slutes now leads the band Maryanne.  1988-93/1998.
