JULES SHEAR
From Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Jules Shear (vocals/guitar) first recorded in 1976 with
the country rock band The Funky Kings and had some critical success as the
leader of Jules & The Polar Bears. Later, primarily as a songwriter,
he wrote hits for both The Bangles and Cyndi Lauper. He
got back to rock with a new group called The Reckless Sleepers which featured
Elliot Easton of The Cars but the group again was largely ignored. Although he's never become a star, his continued solo work
is full of incredible songwriting and he deserves to be heard. He is also known as the original host of M-TV Unplugged
which he hosted for thirteen episodes. Shear had also
had a long standing romantic relationship with Aimee Mann before she married
Michael Penn. 1976-present.
