SHAGGY

 

 

From Kingston, Jamaica, now residing in Brooklyn, New York.  This misplaced Jamaican took his lessons from both his homes, combining American pop sense with traditional reggae inspirations. His first hit "Oh Carolina" was a cover of the Prince Buster classic.  Shaggy's real name is Orville Richard Burrell.  He took a break from recording, joined the marines and ended up a participant in the first Gulf War.  1988-present.
