THE SWANS
From New York City. Dirge rock outfit led by Michael Gira (vocals/guitar) with a large number of sidemen. Best known for their cover versions of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart". They also used the names Skin, and The World Of Skin. After 15 years using The Swans name, Gira retired the band name in 1997. 1982-97.
