SUPERGRASS

 

 

From Oxford, England.  Led by Gareth "Gaz" Coombes (vocals/guitar) with Mickey Quinn (bass), Rob Coombes (keyboards) and Danny Goffey (drums).  This glam and punk influenced band carries a power pop sound not heard in ages and injected itself nicely into the Britpop scene.  The band's name is a slang term comparable to "stool pigeon".  Quinn broke his back in 2008 which hindered the progress of the group while he recovered.  In the interim, Gaz and Danny created an album of covers and called themselves The Hot Rats, released in 2010.  In April of 2010, Supergrass announced that they were splitting permanently due to the good old "musical differences" ending a 17 year run for the band.  1994-present.
