SUGAR RAY
From Orange County, California. Led by Mark McGrath (vocals) with Rodney Sheppard (guitar), Murphy Karges (bass), Craig "DJ Homicide" Bullock (turntables/sampling) and Stan Frazier (drums). They first gained attention by getting actress Nicole Eggert to appear nude on the cover of their first album. A mix of many influences including classic new wave, reggae, metal and Beastie Boys style rap (in their earlier period). Sometimes written off as a pretty boy, McGrath cleaned up on Music Jeopardy showing that he is a well versed musicologist. Recent years show the band taking a direct turn into pop, thinly veiled as alternative. McGrath has also taking a television hosting job on a cheesy entertainment gossip program. 1995-present.
