SUBLIME

From Long Beach, California. Led by Brad Nowell (vocals/guitar) with Eric Wilson (bass) and Bud Gaugh (drums). A ska influenced band of punkers, their several independent releases literally had no impact on the national alternative scene but their posthumous success helped to usher in the third wave of ska. In May of 1996, Nowell died from heroin overdose. In a marketing coup, the subsequent release of a single on a major label resulted in the first of several hits for the defunct group. The surviving members went on to release material as The Long Beach Dub All Stars. 1991-96.
