MICHELLE SHOCKED
From Dallas, Texas. Michelle Johnston was first recorded with a portable Sony walkman around a campfire at a folk festival in Texas by a British producer. The tape was then released in England and became a surprise independent hit! The cover of her album "Short Sharp Shocked" features an actual picture of Michelle being dragged away by police during a demonstration. Her eclectic nature infuriated her record company since they didn't know how to market her and refused to release a gospel album she had submitted. After a long battle with her record company, she eventually won her freedom and is now recording again after a down period of several years. 1986-present.
