From Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Semisonic is led by Dan Wilson (vocals/guitar) with John Munson (bass) and Jacob Slichter (drums).  Wilson and Munson began as Trip Shakespeare with Wilson's brother Matt as leader.  The band had a lot of good word of mouth but only earned a minor hit or two at best.  After changing a member or two, the band rechristened themselves as Pleasure but found the name in use by another act, not before releasing two cassette EP's though.  Now, as Semisonic the band has finally begun to find the success they've worked so hard and long for. Slichter has written a book about the trials and tribulations of being in a band called "So You Wanna Be A Rock & Roll Star: How I Machine-Gunned A Roomful Of Record Executives & Other True Tales From A Drummer's Life". It was released in 2004.

as Trip Shakespeare: 1986-92.  as Semisonic: 1995-present.
