RUBY

From Seattle, Washington. Led by Lesley Rankine (vocals) with Gavin Fawcett (drums), Chris Talpin (bass) and Sharon Dougherty (guitar/keyboards). From 1988-93, Rankine was the lead singer of hardcore band Silverfish. After several albums she lent herself to Martin Atkins' Pigface project and was introduced to industrial music. Hobnobbing in Pigface with industrial's best led her to move from her native Scotland to the heart of grunge where she set up shop to form her new industrial dance sound. A fairly successful debut, Ruby may already be defunct as Rankine may release her next project under her own name. Rankine was once considered for the lead singer slot in Garbage before fellow Scot Shirley Manson won out. The group's name came from the name of Rankine's maternal grandmother. 1995-present.
