RUBBER CITY REBELS

From Akron, Ohio. Led by Roddy Firestone (vocals) with Buzz Click (guitar), Johnny Betheda (bass) and Brendan Matheson (drums). Another band that came out of the great 70's Akron scene, these clever rockers were actually a heavy metal band called King Cobra who changed their name and sound to find the success associated with the Akron buzz. Their definitive song was the self narrating "Rubber City Rebels" which can be found on the Stiff Akron compilation. After moving the group to Los Angeles, and releasing one album, they promptly split up with Firestone heading back to Ohio to form The Firetones. And just when you thought that was the whole story, the band came back with a second studio cd in 2003, 22 years after their first! 1977-80/2001-present.
