THE RESIDENTS

From San Francisco, California.  The identity of this group has always been in question.  Originally a four piece, one of the guitarists was Snakefinger (Philip Charles Lithman), a British solo artist in his own right whose identity was revealed only after his untimely death by heart disease at age 38.  A bizarre hybrid of rock and performance art (think Frank Zappa crossed with Laurie Anderson), their appearance of tuxedo clad men with giant bloodshot eye balls for heads was only augmented when one of the eye balls was stolen.  Their videos are so revolutionary they are on permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art!  Please keep in mind that the facts of their discography come from the band itself and may actually be only partially true!  1970-present.
