RANKING ROGER
From Birmingham, England. Roger Charlery joined The Beat (English Beat) as a toaster and percussionist. When The Beat split, he stayed with Dave Wakeling to form General Public which also met with some success. He released a solo album before forming Special Beat made up of former Beat and Specials members. In 1994 he reunited for another round of General Public with Wakeling and scored a top ten hit with "I'll Take You There". 1996 saw Roger join with old friend Mick Jones and then become a member of Big Audio Dynamite. 2001 saw the release of a new solo album and a 2003 concert reunion with The Beat. Roger now leads a revamped line-up of The Beat playing dates in England and Europe. 1988/2001.
