RANCID
From Berkeley, California. Led by Tim Armstrong (vocals/guitar) with Lars Frederiksen (guitar), Brett Reed (drums) and Matt Freeman (bass). Armstrong and Freeman are veterans of legendary San Francisco ska punkers Operation Ivy. Frederiksen played with old school UK punkers The UK Subs before joining the band. In a sound and style reminiscent of the early Clash, Rancid has carved it's niche into California punk history. On a social note, Armstrong's ex-wife is Distillers lead singer, Brody Armstrong. 1992-present.
