THE PROFESSIONALS

From London. Rising from the ashes of The Sex Pistols, Steve Jones(vocals/guitar) and Paul Cook (drums) joined together with Andy Allen (bass) and attempted to keep the Sex Pistols mystique churning. Two singles failed to make it into the UK Top 40. Allen was dumped and Ray McVeigh (guitar) and Paul Myers (bass) joined on. Agonizingly slow progress on a follow up left the band limp despite great rock and roll chops and their song "Join The Professionals", which was used in the movie "Ladies & Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains". The band then proceeded to make some very bad business decisions such as forgoing their English fan base by touring only the U.S. and passing on a chance to tour as openers for The Clash. The band disintegrated. In a surprise one-off gig, Cook & Jones gave a performance at L.A.'s Viper Room club as The Professionals in July 1994. 1980-81.
