THE POSIES

From Seattle, Washington.  Led by Ken Stringfellow (vocals/guitar) with Jonathan Auer (guitar), Joe Bass (bass) and Brian Young (drums).  Guitar based pop rock that scored an indy hit in 1991 with "Golden Blunders".  The similarity of the song title to The Beatles song "Golden Slumbers" didn't go unnoticed and Ringo Starr ended up covering the song on one of his solo albums!  The band never quite hit it big, a product of bad timing since their music didn't match the rest of the Seattle grunge sound that was happening around them. Stringfellow ended up playing as a touring member of R.E.M. for a time and with Auer became part of a reformed line-up of the legendary Big Star.  The group finally called it quits in 1998, however Auer & Stringfellow continue to perform and record under The Posies name from time to time.  1991-98/2001-present.
