THE POLICE

From London. Led by Sting (Gordon Sumner)(bass) with Andy Summers (guitar) and Stewart Copeland (drums). Probably the biggest band of the new wave era, they joined reggae and jazz with pop for a very unique sound. As solo artists, they all went in very different directions. Friction between Copeland and Sting sealed the group's fate, but Copeland has made it known many times that he's up for a reunion whenever Sting has finished saving the rain forests! Summers was the second guitarist for the group, replacing Henry Padovani. Summers had also played in a very late edition of The Animals and with Sting, Stewart and Mike Howlett in the pre-Police group Strontium 90. The boys reunited privately at weddings and eventually gave one last public performance as a group the night that they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. 1977-86.
