PHUNK JUNKEEZ

 

 

From Phoenix, Arizona.  Led by "Soulman" Joe Vailente (vocals) with DJ Roachclip (sampling), Jeff O'Rourke (guitar), Jumbo Jim (bass) and Disko Danny D (drums).  The band was originally co-led by Soulman along with K-Tel Disco (Kirk Reznik) but the band dumped Kirk before the second album resulting in a lawsuit since he owned half the rights to the band name.  Soldiering on, the band made their first and so far only mark on alternative radio with a cover of the Kiss song "I Love It Loud".  One of the bands that mix rap, funk and metal together in alternative music.  They've built their reputation as an opening act for many popular mainstream rap acts, from MC Hammer to Insane Clown Posse.  1992-present.
