PHRANC
From Mar Vista, California. A Jewish, lesbian folk singer. Sings amusing ditties that are always fun, if you're in on the joke. Phranc's real name is Susan Gottleib. A veteran of the L.A. punk scene, she is a former member of gothic band Catholic Disipline. In 1991, she took a three year recording hiatus after the death of her brother who had been murdered. During this period she experimented in being an artist (pop art of course!). She also did a one woman/man(?) show called "Hot August Phranc" that featured her performance of Neil Diamond selections in gender correct costuming complete with fake chest hair. While always a bit of a fringe artist, her sense of humor is great and is something we need to have in music today. In 1998 she released her first full length solo album in seven years on National Coming Out Day. Over the last decade, Phranc has not released any albums, concentrating instead on visual art. 1985-present.
