From Stockton, California. Led by Stephen Malkmus (vocals/guitar) with Scott "Spiral Stairs" Kanberg (guitar), Mark Ibold (bass) and Steve West (drums). Kings of lo-fi rock, this band has been held up in high regard by many of today's bands for helping return a raw energy that was missing from alternative rock for some time. The band Blur singled out Pavement as being responsible for influencing the sound of their hit "Song 2". Since disbanding the group, Malkmus and his new trio The Jicks have had several recorded releases. In 2010, Pavement reunited and toured Europe. 1989-99.
