BENJAMIN ORR

From Cleveland, Ohio. The co-vocalist of The Cars (along with Ric Ocasek), Orr made only one solo album before disappearing from the recording world. He continued to play with his band ORR until his untimely death from pancreatic cancer in 2000. Although he was only 53 when he died, Orr had been a member of many regionally popular bands in the Cleveland and Boston areas before striking gold with The Cars. Sadly, many people that remember The Cars only remember Ric Ocasek as being the vocalist, not realizing that Orr sang lead vocals on many of their most popular hits, including their first hit "Just What I Needed", "Bye Bye Love", "Moving In Stereo", "Candy-O" and their biggest hit "Drive". A year before he died he joined a band called Big People which also featured former members of some other popular mainstream 80's bands. 1986.
