OPERATION IVY
From San Francisco, California. Led by Jesse Michaels (vocals) with Tim "Lint" Armstrong (guitar), Matt McCall (Matt Freeman)(bass) and Dave Mello (drums). A crucial band of ska punkers that helped bring in the third wave of ska. The band ended when Michaels quit and eventually became a Zen Buddhist monk for about 6 months. He has been in a few bands since including Common Rider but maintains a relatively low profile in the music community. The remaining members went on to help form the Dance Hall Crashers then defected from that project to form Rancid. 1989.
