NEGATIVLAND
From Concord, California. A group of music experimentalists comprised of Mark Hosler, Richard Lyons, David Wills and Don Joyce. Sonic artists that create multi-layered masterpieces of audio. The band is widely known for a major lawsuit drawn against them by the band U2. Negativland sampled "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" to such an extent that it was much more than a "sample". Also they marketed the record in such a way that someone might think that they were buying a U2 record based on the packaging. Needless to say, they lost. However, the group still exists, still produces new recordings and airs much of their new material via public radio on the show "Over The Edge". While these "songs" can't be technically called songs, they are audio collages that have the ability to provoke your senses with either laughter, horror, outrage, or embarrassment! 1982-present.
