MARTHA AND THE MUFFINS

From Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  Led by Martha Johnson (vocals) and Mark Gane (guitar).  Beginning as a noted new wave band, there sound became decidedly dance floor only by the time they changed their name to M+M.  In the original band, there was also another Martha (Martha Ladley) and the band also contained Jocelyne Lanois, sister of producer Daniel Lanois.   Johnson released a children's album in 1996.  Johnson and Gane never officially stopped working together and may release some new Muffins material in the future!  2005 found them touring Canada again under the band name and many of their original albums have been remastered and reissued.  1979-present.
